Record Low Ozone Level in 2005

Pollution and climate change has resulted in the thinnest ozone layer in 50 years over northern and central Europe.

According to data collected from 35 stations one-third of the ozone molecules in the Arctic stratosphere were destroyed last winter. While ozone depletion has been observed before, this year's reduction of 30% is larger than seen before, said the scientists participating in this week at the European Geoscience Union meeting.
