Indigenous Arctic Leaders Urge Europe to Do More to Fight Global Warming

Leaders of the Arctic region's indigenous people, visiting Berlin and Brussels, have urged European countries to step up the fight against global warming, saying it is threatening their environment, economies and cultures.
Members of the Arctic Council that each country in the world examine if it was doing its part to slow climate change. Created in 1996, the Arctic Council - which comprises Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States - is a regional partnership for sustainable development. The Arctic region is home to about four million people, including more than 30 different indigenous groups.
